FEATURES of folding glass doors
It is a top hung glass manufacturer, our system relies on sturdy tracks or beams concealed in the ceiling in order to support the weight of the door beneath. The effortless gliding motion of our frameless glass makes opening, stacking and closing a breeze.
Since the wheel assembly of a top hung system remains fully enclosed inside the track, gravity sees to it that the mechanism stays clean and dirt-free thanks to its suspended state. Maintenance of a top hung slider is quite straightforward, with the boxed-in design allowing easy access to wheels and bearing sub-assemblies when necessary.
Another benefit to top hung frameless sliding glass doors is the ability to set the tracks into a foundation, completely flush with the floor surface. That means no more tripping over unseen ledges and worrying about cleaning nooks and crannies.
With no vertical frames between our frameless glass, you will enjoy a new level of clarity that few homeowners experience in today. We use UV protected translucent polycarbonate channel, which directly interlocks and tightly seals into the next panel.
Flexibility and functionality are at the forefront of what makes our folding glass doors such a special product. Because each glass panel slides individually, you will have the seamless ability to open the glass system entirely, create air gaps for natural ventilation, open one panel, combine two panels in the center–the choice is yours.
Our standard locking hardware is much more robust than what you find in other frameless glass doors.
We use two deadbolts: one at the top and one at the bottom of the first opening panel. Unlike other glass door systems, there are no floating handles, which means that it is virtually impossible to enter from the outside.
We also provide nonstandard options for clients that favor a handle or want key entry access from the exterior. Another choice is a lock on every panel.
You can pick the solution you feel the most comfortable with for security reasons and to match your lifestyle.
Once the system is opened and stacked, we make sure our panels remain stacked thanks to magnetized technology on each of glass panel. This prevents the frameless glass doors from moving out of place if a strong gust of wind comes, or if anyone happens to walk into them if not paying attention.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION of folding glass doors
At Cover Glass, we use special polycarbonate UV protected weatherstrips that completely seal your system and protect your property. When two glass panels come together at the H-Channel, there is an automatic interlocking that occurs, protecting your property from any moisture, wind or air that tries to get through. Additionally, because Cover Glass uses UV protected weather-strip technology, your system will never become brittle or yellow.
Once we have a clean opening from you or your contractor, the installation of our frameless glass doors is a very simple two-step process. However, we will need any obstruction to be removed before installation begins, which includes having the header and sides both exposed.
If you want to recess the bottom track so that it matches with your finished flooring, we need the cut into the floor to be provided beforehand. We will work with you and/or your contractor to provide all the necessary details.
PHASE 1:
The initial stage of the installation consists of weatherproofing the frameless glass, installation of the top and bottom track, and the drilling of weep holes or drainpipes (depending on your property requirements). Once complete, we’ll then laser measure and reserve the tempered glass from our supplier base.
PHASE 2:
Once we acquire the sliding glass doors from our supplier, we will then fit the glass into the tracks and complete the installation process. In terms of installation duration, it takes approx. one working day per 18 feet of track or glass and a total lead time of just under a month fully installed. This may vary depending on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) pre-existing schedules and customer demand.
We do our own draining at Cover Glass, which is a huge benefit to our customers. This is done in either of two ways: 1.) Drilling weep holes 2.) Installing drainpipes.
For weep holes, we drill individual holes at the base of the track, allowing any water that hits the glass to easily disperse.
For drainpipes, we utilize the same lower profile of the track as weep holes and attach connectors to our pipes. If any water hits the frameless glass it will trickle down the system, run into the track and automatically weep away from the panels. The drainpipes will be connected to any landscape or any other drainage systems that you might have to remove the water efficiently and properly.
